US Eagle Provides Much-Needed Help to Nonprofit OrganizationsCOVID-19 has devastated nonprofits, businesses, and the health and well-being of nearly every sector of our community. Many nonprofits were forced to cancel programming, fundraising events, and client services. Cancelling these services has caused significant financial hardship on these organizations and those they serve. To address the needs of our community, US Eagle partnered with Albuquerque Community Foundation and United Way of Central New Mexico on a joint venture to deploy an Emergency Action Fund (EAF), a collaboration to provide short-term, unrestricted funding to nonprofits in support of their services to individuals and families affected by COVID-19.
Since March 20, 2020, the EAF has invested more than $444,000 to 93 nonprofit organizations in New Mexico, providing emergency and basic human needs services. EAF partners meet regularly to ensure the fund is consistently addressing the changing needs COVID-19 has created in our community.
COVID-19 has also worsened underlying conditions that have plagued troubled systems for many years. The Emergency Action Fund now seeks proposals from organizations that are creatively addressing these pre-existing issues. Grants, ranging from $25,000 to $50,000, are available to organizations addressing access to technology, family stability, and education gaps. For more information and to apply, please click here.

Rio Grande Food Project and US Eagle Adapt to Continue Food DistributionDue to COVID-19, US Eagle’s long-time community partner, the Rio Grande Food Project was forced to temporarily suspend food distribution at their location to ensure that their clients, volunteers, and employees were safe. RGFP operates in a small space and works with individuals who may be in poor health. To ensure their mission continued, they instead started providing emergency food assistance to nonprofits and community organizations who work directly with at-risk populations such as HopeWorks, Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless, and New Mexico Child Advocacy Network.
RGFP also began providing drive-thru services at Legacy Church’s parking lot. On Mondays, US Eagle employees volunteer to help guide traffic during the food distribution hours, load food boxes, and assist with client registration. Since April, US Eagle employees have has volunteered more than 140 hours to support this cause.
If you or someone you know are in need of food, or if you are interested in volunteering, please visit https://www.rgfp.org/ for more information.
